This proposed 16,350 square foot house of worship would require
65% more land than owned to meet the legal requirements.
The structure would be too big, too high, too wide, too close to neighbors,
and without a major variance, would not be legal.

"Save Millburn's mission is to inform as many residents as possible across Millburn/Short Hills if or when the Zoning Board of Adjustment grants any substantial variance. We believe that the granting of numerous substantial variances weakens the overall legally approved town wide Zoning Ordinance.

The Zoning Ordinance purpose is to protect the entire township by designating permitted uses of land based on mapped zones which separate one set of land uses from another. Zoning may be use-based (regulating the uses to which land may be put), or it may regulate building height, lot coverage, and similar characteristics, or some combination of these.

We believe that the more people that come to open public meetings and get involved, the more likely decisions by town officials will be transparent and done in a correct and proper manner. If residents/applicants frequently require substantial variances, we note that there is a legal process to amend the Zoning Ordinance.

An essential purpose of this organization is to inform the public of the facts, give them information about zoning rules and regulations and vigilantly be sure these rules and regulations are followed. Nothing less, nothing more."
